The project meeting in Italy was exceptional in many respects. It was the first time all the coordinating teachers from four partner schools had met in person. The visit to Gragnano gave us a taste of Italian kindness and hospitality and a chance to meet the Speak up team from Don Lorenzo Milani, the Principal and all the teachers and students involved in the project. We were also given a warm welcome by the Mayor of Gragnano, Mr Paolo Cimmino.
The project meeting was unforgettable also because our meeting agenda, so meticulously planned by the Italian coordinator Mrs Antonietta Calò, who had arranged an official opening of the project at the local City Hall and project work at school, had to be slightly amended due to some unexpected weather conditions. Torrential rain and flooded roads in and around Gragnano forced the local authorities to close all the schools and public offices on November 7th. Instead of attending an official meeting, the coordinators spent the day discussing all the issues connected with the successful implementation of the project in the Conference Room of Hotel Parco. They formed a strong, dedicated team that will definitely make Speak up a success :)
